Facile preparation of Fe nanochains and their electromagnetic properties

Abstract

Fe nanochains were prepared by a simple, accessible and pollution-free chemical reduction method. When the concentrations of the reagents were changed, many types of Fe nanochains and Fe nanoparticles of 100 nm in diameter were obtained. Excellent chain-structures of Fe nanochains could be prepared. The microwave absorption properties of the Fe nanochains were researched. The minimum reflection loss reaches −20.4 dB, and the effective microwave absorption band (RL < −10) covers 13.0–17.4 GHz. The influences of different nano-Fe morphologies on their microwave absorption properties were discussed in detail.
