Hierarchical graphite oxide fabricated from graphite via electrochemical cleavage as an anode material for lithium ion batteries

Abstract

A facile, green and economical method to produce mildly oxidative graphite is proposed. Devoid of any toxic and refractory substances, and without any doping and thermal treatment, hierarchical graphite oxides with prominent hydrophilicity and interesting morphology were obtained based on electrochemical cleavage. Afterwards, centrifugation was employed for size grading. When tested as an anode material, the optimal reversible capacity of the obtained graphite oxide runs up to 631 mA h g−1 at 0.1 C and 497 mA h g−1 at 1C, and the cycling stability is also satisfactory.
