Synthesis and characterization of spinel LiMn2O4 prepared by the cyclohexanone hydrothermal method

Abstract

Spinel LiMn2O4 particles were successfully synthesized by the cyclohexanone hydrothermal method, in which the spinel LiMn2O4 was directly synthesized from the hydrothermal reaction without further sintering at high temperature. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) showed that the samples were LiMn2O4 with spinel morphology. The electrochemical performance showed that the sample with the ratio 2 : 25 had a high initial discharge capacity of 127.9 mA h g−1. Moreover, it exhibited excellent cycling maintaining 94.6% of its initial discharge capacity after 60 charge–discharge cycles.
