Controlled fabrication and optical properties of uniform CeO2 hollow spheres

Abstract

Uniform CeO2 hollow spheres were successfully fabricated on a large scale via calcination of the corresponding spherical Ce–organic precursor. The solution- and solid-based shape and crystal structure evolution can be consecutively controlled. Sm-doped CeO2 hollow spheres have also been synthesized and their enhanced optical properties have been demonstrated.
