Modify the morphology of colloidal Ag2Se nanostructures by laser irradiation

Abstract

A facile process, laser irradiation on colloidal nanoparticles, was developed to modify the morphology of silver selenide (Ag2Se) nanostructures. The power density of pulsed laser was found critical on the temperature rise of the nanoparticles and then the final morphology of the product. Correspondingly, nanorods and nanosheres were obtained via solid phase transformation at a power density of 2.4 × 107 W cm−2 and via thermal decomposition at a power density of 5.2 × 1010 W cm−2, respectively.
