Dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) simulation is employed to examine the formation of complex colloidal particles. The dependence of the structure of such colloidal particles on the structure of the polymer, the interactions between the solvent and the segments of the polymer, and interactions between the same and/or different segments of the polymer are investigated. Families of shell–core, multicore, patchy, stacked layered, and cylindrical layered particles are obtained. The pathways for the formation of such complex colloidal particles are identified.
