Simplified platensimycin analogues as antibacterial agents

Abstract

A series of substituted 2-hydroxybenzoic acid derivatives were synthesized as simplified analogues of platensimycin. The final compounds were evaluated against the Gram-positive bacteria, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Analogues that possessed polycyclic groups directly attached to the substituted benzoic acid were able to demonstrate modest antimicrobial activity.
