Zinc oxide synthesis via a microemulsion technique: morphology control with application to dye-sensitized solar cells

Abstract

This communication demonstrated the technique of using microemulsion to synthesize ZnO crystals with a variety of morphologies. A nearly 30% improved efficiency of a dye-sensitized solar cell can be obtained by using one of the synthesized crystals with coral-like structure, as compared to the commercially available ZnO particles.
