Au-supported Pt–Au mixed atomic monolayer electrocatalyst with ultrahigh specific activity for oxidation of formic acid in acidic solution

Abstract

Au-supported Pt–Au mixed atomic monolayer electrocatalyst was prepared by underpotential deposition of Cu on Au and then redox replacement with noble metal atoms, which shows an ultrahigh Pt-mass (or Pt-area) normalized specific electrocatalytic activity of 102 mA μgPt−1 (124 mA cmPt−2) for oxidation of formic acid in acidic aqueous solution.
