Phosphirenium-borate zwitterion: formation in the 1,1-carboboration reaction of phosphinylalkynes

Abstract

Reaction of the acetylene Mes2P–C[triple bond, length as m-dash]C–Ar with B(C6F5)3 at rt gives a zwitterionic phosphirenium product, which reacts further at >100 °C to complete the 1,1-carboboration reaction.
