Abstract

A facile synthesis of 4-indolebenzofurans from the one-pot reaction of 4-alkyl-2-ynylphenols and indolesvia a hypervalent iodine-induced oxidative dearomatization, a silver-catalyzed cascade Michael addition-annulation, and an aromatization is reported.
