A novel direct borohydride fuelcell using an acid–alkaline hybrid electrolyte

Abstract

For the first time, a ceramic lithium super-ionic conductor (LISICON) film has been employed to separate the oxidation of BH4 in an alkaline medium from the reduction of H2O2 in an acidic medium, forming a direct borohydride fuel cell (DBFC) with a high stable cell voltage of 2.1 V. This may be an interesting topic for future study on borohydride fuel cells.
