Isomorphic polysupramolecules assembled from mixed valent Cu-triazolate sheets, benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylates and halides

Abstract

Hydrothermal reactions of 1,2,4-triazole (Htrz) with CuBr or CuCl2 in the presence of benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid (H3btc) produced the infinite aggregates, [CuI4CuII2(trz)4(btc)Br] (1) and [CuI4CuII2(trz)4(btc)Cl] (2), composed of 2D mixed valent Cu-trz sheets, benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylates and halides; in particular, the Br-labelled 1 crystallizes in I4/m space group with cell parameters: a = 20.321(2) Å, b = 20.321(2) Å, c = 13.699(1) Å, V = 5714.8(4) Å3 and the Cl-labelled 2 in a P4/ncc with a = 20.3711(5) Å, b = 20.3711(5) Å, c = 13.7711(8) Å, V = 5656.9(6) Å3. Solid measurements reveal that the halide-discriminated compounds are thermostable up to 300 °C and ambient luminescent, exhibiting the emission bands in the range of 400–550 nm.
