A water-soluble iridium(iii) porphyrin

Abstract

This work reports the synthesis and characterization of the first water-soluble iridium porphyrin, iridium(III) diaqua porphyrin [IrIII(TSPP)(OH2)2]3− (1, TSPP = tetra-p-sulfonatophenyl porphyrin). The structure of 1 was unequivocally determined by single crystal X-ray analysis. Benzo-18-crown-6-ether is essential for producing single crystals suitable for X-ray analysis.
