Structure of the kanamycin–calix[4]arene di-O-phosphonate salt

Abstract

The structure of the salt kanamycin–calix[4]arene di-phosphonate shows a 1 : 2 stoichiometry with the calix[4]arenedi-phosphonate anion present as bilayers of the classic interdigitated dimer; in this strcuture the kanamycin cation is present in a compact form held together by inter-carbohydrate ring hydrogen bonding.
