Novel hexanuclear copper(ii)-substituted dimeric tungstogermanates§

Abstract

Two novel hexanuclear copper(II)-substituted tungstogermanates [Cu(2,2′-bipy)]2[Cu(2,2′-bipy)2]2[Cu6(2,2′-bipy)2(GeW9O34)2]·3H2O (1) (2,2′-bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine) and (Cuphen)2[Cu(phen)2]2 [Cu6phen2 (GeW9O34)2]∙2H2O (2) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), which both consist of two trilacunary [B-α-GeW9O34]10− Keggin units incorporating a unique Cu6O14N2cluster and bridged by four copper complexes have been hydrothermally synthesized. They represent unreported two examples of Cu6-containing tungstogermanates and further act as natural molecular units for the construction of interesting 3-D supramolecular frameworks.
