Organic gas-phase ion chemistry

Abstract

Many noteworthy contributions were reported in 2005. Among them were the determinations of the complexation energy of dialane and the heat of hydrogenation of phenylcyclobutadiene, two transient species that can be observed only at very low temperatures in cryogenic matrices. Infrared spectra on organometallic compounds, cationized amino acids and peptides, and cluster ions represent spectacular achievements as do photoelectron spectra studies on dipole bound anions, dicarboxylates, and small clusters. The chiral recognition work of Speranza and coworkers is exciting as is the prediction of observable anion–anion clusters which are not held together by covalent bonds.
