Alkali and alkaline-earth metals

Abstract

Highlights this year include the first structurally characterised heavy alkaline-earth metal Grignard reagent, the first X-ray structure of an α-monophosphinoalkyllithium and the first structure of a solvent-free α-lithiated amine. Other highlights include an Al/Mg complex with CO2 bridging in a linear fashion, the first structural characterisation of a potassium N-heterocyclic carbene and deprotonation of bis(benzene) chromium using a mixed alkali metal/alkaline-earth metal base.
