Supramolecular self-assembly of tin(iv) porphyrin channels stabilizing single-file chains of water molecules

Abstract

The supramolecular assembly of tin(IV) porphyrin equipped with six pyridyl groups, trans-diisonicotinate[meso-tetrakis(4-pyridyl)porphyrinato]tin(IV), generates a uniform channel lined with the pyridyl groups, in which the lattice water molecules are ordered into a single-file chain by hydrogen bonding between neighboring water molecules along the chain as well as hydrogen bonding between water molecules and the pyridyl lining of the channel.
