3  Alkali and alkaline-earth metals

Abstract

Highlights this year include an explanation of the 300-fold decrease in the rate of amine-assisted enolization of 2-methylcyclohexanone when Bun3N is replaced by Bun2(Bui)N, the first alkaline earth alkalide, the first monomeric butyllithium compound, the first bond between beryllium and a Group 14 element other than carbon and the first terminally bonded aryloxo compounds of magnesium.
