Unusual structural trends in the [MCl3([8]aneSe2)] (M = As, Sb, Bi) adducts

Abstract

The structures of the homologous [MCl3([8]aneSe2)] (M = As, Sb or Bi; [8]aneSe2 = 1,5-diselenacyclooctane) ladder structures formed from planar M2Cl6 units linked by selenoether ligands with trans Se atoms reveal unexpected structural patterns—possible reasons for these are discussed.
