Abstract

Precise definitions are given of basic chemical concepts (matter, material; solid, liquid, gas, vapour; mixture, substance, solution, solvent, solute; physical, physicochemical, chemical, radiochemical; element, compound, allotropy, stoicheiometric, nonstoicheiometric).
