Facile and high yield synthesis of mesostructured MCM-48 silica crystals

Abstract

High yields (typically 95%) of highly ordered cubic (rhombic dodecahedral) crystals of MCM-48 mesoporous silica can be obtained from simple cetyltrimethylammonium hydroxide (CTAOH)–SiO2–H2O systems in which the CTAOH functions as the structure director and also controls the pH of the synthesis gel.
