Johannesburg Summit on sustainable development

Abstract

Ten years after the Rio Earth summit world leaders gatthered at Johannesburg, South Africa, from 26 August until 4th September to discuss many issues around the subject of sustainable development. With the world's population standing at 6 billion and rising, the development of sustainable agriculture was seen as fundamental to poverty alleviation and food security. CropLife International supported one of the many partnership initiatives which came out of the Summit. Hamish Kidd reports.
