Two novel racemic synthetic approaches to LTB4 and LTB3 methyl esters

Abstract

The formal racemic synthesis of LTB4 and LTB3 methyl esters 1 and 2 is reported by introducing in a one step-procedure the E,E,Z-conjugated trienic system provided by (1E,3E,5Z)-1,6-dibromohexa-1,3,5-triene 3 and (1E,3E,5Z)-1-bromo-7,7-diethoxyhepta-1,3,5-triene 4, respectively, as building blocks.
