Vapour–liquid–liquid equilibria for the system 3-methoxypropionitrile + water in the vicinity of the upper critical end point

Abstract

Vapour–liquid equilibria for the system 3-methoxypropionitrile + water were measured at several temperatures in the vicinity of the upper critical solution temperature. The static method was applied for the measurements. A new static apparatus for vapour–liquid equilibrium measurements up to 0.1 MPa has been designed and built. The test measurements performed for the system benzene + cyclohexane proved the high accuracy of the experimental procedure. The data of the vapour–liquid equilibria measurements for the system 3-methoxypropionitrile + water were modelled with the NRTL equation. The results of the calculations are discussed.
