Pseudo-polyrotaxanes based on a protonated version of the 1,2-bis(4,4′-bipyridinium)ethane–24-crown-8 ether motif

Abstract

Protonated 1,2-bis(4,4′-bipyridinium)ethane axles and dibenzo-24-crown-8 ether wheels thread to form [2]pseudorotaxanes which associate in the solid state to form pseudo-polyrotaxanes by hydrogen bonding or π-stacking.
