Isogalactofagomine lactam. A neutral nanomolar galactosidase inhibitor

Abstract

4-Deoxy-4-hydroxymethyl-L-ribono-1,5-lactam (9) was synthesised and found to be a potent inhibitor of β-galactosidase from Aspergillus oryzae with a Ki of 18 nM.
