Abstract

The metathesis of the Si–Si bonds of benzo[1,2∶4,5]-bis(1,1,2,2-tetramethyl-1,2-disilacyclobut-3-ene) with Pd(PPh3)4 gave 1,2,9,10,17,18,25,26,27,28,35,36,37,38,39,40- hexadecasila[28](1,2,4,5)cyclophane and its open-chain homologs, in which the σ–π conjugation is extended all over the molecule.
