Direct fluorination of fullerenes

Abstract

Data on the synthesis of a new class of fluorocarbon compound, fluorofullerenes, by reactions of C60, C70, their mixtures and higher fullerenes with molecular fluorine are surveyed. The physicochemical and thermodynamic properties are presented for pure C60F48, which is the only compound formed selectively in direct fluorination of C60, and for fluorofullerene mixtures. The bibliography includes 70 references.
