Inclusion compounds of alkaline-earth metal O,O′-dibenzoyl tartrates: structure and thermal stability

Abstract

The structures of the magnesium, calcium and strontium salts of O,O′-dibenzoyl tartaric acid, formed in the presence of 2-methoxymethanol and ethanol, have been elucidated. Their thermal characteristics have been measured by TG, DSC and evolved gas analysis methods. The kinetics of thermal decomposition of the calcium salt has been studied, yielding an activation energy of 133(6) kJ mol−1.
