Ensemble simulation study of chaos in a chemical model

Abstract

The master equation for a deterministic chemical chaos model was analyzed by means of ensemble stochastic simulations. It was found that the representative points in the ensemble extended to distribute on the overall deterministic chaotic attractor because of the separation of nearby stochastic trajectories. The result revealed that intrinsic fluctuations in systems of deterministic chemical chaos are very large and thus make the averaged values of concentration meaningless. While the evolution path formed by the ensemble mean values is no longer chaos, individual simulation orbits preserve mostly the phase space structure of the deterministic chaotic attractor.
