The formation of sulfur macrocycles containing dialkyne units

Abstract

Treatment of the dialkyne complex [{Co2(CO)6}2{μ-η 2∶μ-η2-HOCH2C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CC [triple bond, length half m-dash]CCH2OH}] with HBF4·OEt2 at −78 °C and the subsequent addition of [HS(CH2)2]2X (X = S or O) affords the novel macrocyclic complexes [{Co2(CO)5}{Co2(CO)6 }{(μ-η2-C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CCH2SCH 2CH2)2S}] 1a, [{Co2(CO)6}2{(μ-η 2-C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CCH2SCH2CH2)2 O }] 2a and [{Co2(CO)6}2{(μ-η 2-C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CCH2SCH2CH2)2 X}]2 [X = S 1b or O 2b].
