A thiophosphorylated hemicryptophane: structure of the toluene inclusion complex

Abstract

The reaction of the tri-(benzaldehyde)-substituted cyclotriveratrylene 6 with phosphotrihydrazide under high dilution conditions gives rise to the novel thiophosphorylated hemicryptophane 1. 1 is representative of a new family of molecular receptors providing a molecular cavity available for neutral and charged guests. In the crystal, compound 1 encapsulates one toluene molecule.
