Thermal fixation of sulfur dioxide

Abstract

In a new thermal reaction, gaseous SO2 is reduced to elemental S8 over powdered Na2C2O4 at 370 °C. Mixtures of SO2 and dry air gave oxidation to sodium sulfate.
