A linear metal string [Cr77-teptra)4Cl2] complex with delocalized heptachromium(II) multiple bonds (teptraH3 = tetrapyridyltriamine)

Abstract

A heptachromium(II) metal chain helically wrapped by four all-syn type teptra3– ligands with delocalized CrII–CrII–CrII–CrII–CrII–CrII–CrII multiple bonds is found in the complex [Cr77-teptra)4Cl2]. The band structure of a hypothetical one-dimensional chromium string based on this structure is calculated and shows metallic behavior for the string structure.
