A cubic–cubic phase transition of 4′-n-hexacosyloxy-3′-nitrobiphenyl-4-carboxylic acid (ANBC-26)

Abstract

Lengthening of the alkoxyl group of 4′-n-alkoxy-3′-nitrobiphenyl-4-carboxylic acids to C26 produced two types of cubic mesophases with Im3m and Ia3d symmetries, where the Im3m cubic phase is transformed into the Ia3d cubic phase at 162 °C on heating.
