Uncatalysed hydrogen-transfer reductions of aldehydes and ketones

Abstract

Aldehydes and ketones are reduced to the corresponding alcohols by transfer hydrogenation at high temperature with EtOH, PrnOH or PriOH as hydrogen donors in the absence of catalysts and base.
