Solid phase synthesis of anhydrides and amides: polymer-assisted reaction in the synthesis of dipeptides

Abstract

Linear poly-4- and poly-2-vinylpyridines and copolymers of these with divinylbenzene have been used as an efficient solid phase for the synthesis of acid anhydrides and amides, by pyridinium catalyzed acyl transfer to carboxylic acids or amines, respectively, in equimolar amounts. (S,S)-CBZAla–TrpCO2Me dipeptide was obtained in good yield in a multi-phase application.
