Preparation and crystal structures of donor-functionalized 2,2′-oxydiethanol complexes of titanium, yttrium, magnesium and sodium
Abstract
The complexes [cis-TiCl2(η3-digol)(THF)], [YCl3(η3-H2digol)(THF)], [Mg2(µ-Cl)2(η3-H2digol)2(THF)2]Cl2 and [Na2(µ,η2-H2digol)2(η3-Hdigol)2] have been synthesized and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 consists of a dichlorotitanium(IV) core with a doubly deprotonated mer-coordinated tridentate 2,2′-oxydiethanlato(2-) and THF ligands. Compound 2 has a distorted pentagonal bipyramidal structure with chlorine ligands in the axial positions. In the [Mg2(µ-Cl)2(η3-H2digol)2(THF)2]2+ cation of 3, each magnesium atom is octahedrally coordinated by two µ-Cl atoms, the chelate tridentate η3-H2digol ligand and the oxygen atom of the coordinated THF molecule. The structure of 4 includes two six-coordinated sodium atoms linked by two OH bridges. Three oxygen atoms of η3-Hdigol and one ether oxygen atom of the η2-H2digol ligands complete the coordination sphere of the sodium atoms. One of the oxygen atoms of the η2-H2digol hydroxyl group remains uncoordinated.
