Continual improvement of instrumentation for analytical spectrochemistryInvited Lecture
Abstract
Among the metrics that have been proposed to gauge progress in instrumentation development has been that of ‘an ideal instrument system’. The performance features designated to be characteristic of ‘an ideal instrument system’ need to be examined carefully. It is important to verify that the features are appropriate references for developmental progress. From the point of view of an analytical instrument manufacturer, the various performance features suggested for an ‘ideal’ instrument for analytical spectrochemistry are assessed.
