Encapsulation of 1,4-diketo-2,5-dimethyl-3,6-diphenylpyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole in faujasites

Abstract

Faujasite-type zeolites were loaded by vapour phase deposition with 1,4-diketo-2,5-dimethyl-3,6-diphenylpyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole. The amount of dye was determined by thermal analysis. The encapsulation of the dye inside the micropore system was established by XRD, UV–VIS spectroscopy and nitrogen adsorption. The differences in the experimental results obtained for the Na and H forms of the same Y zeolite by NMR as well as IR spectroscopy point to specific interactions of the dye molecules with the host material.
