(LnM–Cm–)x: Hypothetical organometallic polymers with metallapolyyne and metallacumulene character *

Abstract

A class of (–LnM–Cm–)x hypothetical polymers, m = 2–4, conceptually derived from experimentally known analogous rigid-rod organometallic polymers and with different electron counts, obtained by varying the metal and the ligands in the MLn fragment, have been studied using extended-Hückel tight-binding calculations. The results suggest interesting conducting properties, depending on the electron count and the length of the bridging Cm chain.
