Preparation, first X-ray structure analysis and reactivity of hexacoordinate silicon compounds with a tetradentate azomethine ligand

Abstract

Hexacoordinate silicon compounds and polymers with the tetradentate azomethine ligand N,N′-ethylenebis(2-hydroxyacetophenoneiminate) (H2salen*) have been prepared and characterized; the X-ray structure analysis of (salen*)SiF2 clearly demonstrates the octahedral coordination of the silicon atom.
