Studies on monoxide emission spectrometry of rare earth elementsPart V.† Determination of Dy in rare earth concentrates by dual wavelength method

Abstract

The enhancement effect of Pr, Y, Eu and La on the determination of Dy by air–acetylene flame monoxide flame emission spectrometry is reported. The dual wavelength method (526.3 nm as the analytical wavelength and 526.7 nm as the reference wavelength) was used to eliminate spectral interferences. A new method was established for direct determination of Dy (about 4%) in rare-earth mixture concentrates using Pr as enhancing agent and chemical interference inhibitor. The detection limit is 0.4 µg ml–1 Dy and the linear range is 5–900 µg ml–1 Dy.
