Studies on bis(2,3∶5,6-di-O-isopropylidene-D-mannofuranosyl)amine and its protected and deprotected N-acyl derivatives – an approach to novel non-ionic surfactants

Abstract

Optimum conditions for the formation of N-acyl derivatives of bis(2,3∶5,6-di-O-isopropylidene-D-mannofuranosyl)amine with long-chain acid chlorides have been determined. The anomeric equilibrium of the parent bis(sugar)amine has been investigated and the amide rotation barrier measured for these protected sugar derivatives and the analogous compounds with the protecting groups removed.
