A theoretical study of the formation and destruction of the aci-forms of nitromethane and dinitromethane

Abstract

A quantum-chemical study of the dehydration mechanism of CH3NO2 and CH2 (NO2 ) 2 molecules has shown that a water molecule eliminates from the respective aci-forms, formation of the latter being the limiting step of the whole process.
