Isolation and characterization of hydroformylation ‘intermediates’ from stoichiometric reactions between phosphinoalkenes and some heterobinuclear complexes

Abstract

Some heterobimetallic acyl and µ-acyl-rhodium complexes have been isolated from reactions of the phosphido-bridged complexes (OC) 4 M(µ-PPh 2 ) 2 RhH(CO)(PPh 3 ) with the phosphinoalkenes Ph 2 P(CH 2 ) n CH[double bond, length as m-dash]CH 2 where M = Cr, Mo or W and n = 1–3. Several of the complexes have been fully characterized and their potential role as intermediates in the catalytic hydroformylation of the parent phosphines investigated and discussed.
