Mononuclear zinc(II), homodinuclear zinc(II) and heterodinuclear zinc(II)–copper(II) complexes derived from tris[(2-pyridyl)methyl]amine

Abstract

Mononuclear zinc(II), homodinuclear zinc(II) and heterodinuclear zinc(II)–copper(II) complexes derived from tris[(2-pyridyl)methyl]amine (L) have been prepared and characterised. The crystal structures of two mononuclear complexes, [ZnL(Cl)][BPh 4 ]·MeCN and [ZnL(O 2 CPh)][BPh 4 ] show that the co-ordination geometries around the zinc are close to trigonal bipyramidal and that of the heterodinuclear complex [ZnCuL 2 (p-O 2 NC 6 H 4 OPO 3 ][BPh 4 ] 2 ·H 2 O shows that the metal atoms are separated by 5.86 Å and bridged by a phosphate monoester.
