New organophosphorus–sulfur heterocycles

Abstract

The synthesis of 2,4-(naphthalene-1,8-diyl)-1,3,2,4-dithiadiphosphetane 2,4-disulfides from P ₄ S ₁₀ and the appropriate naphthalene compound has been accomplished. The reactions of naphthalene-1,8-diyl-1,3,2,4-dithiadiphosphetane 2,4-disulfide with methanol and 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol have been performed. The crystal structure of a naphthalene relative of Lawesson’s reagent has been determined.
